We loved the Senior problem! We figured out that 1/8 of the students were still left in class - this equated to 25 students. We worked out that if 1/8 = 25, then to find 7/8, we would need to multiply 25 by 7. This came to 175. Looking forward to tomorrow's problem! Room 6.

  2. Room 14's answer to the junior problem:

    - 3? That’s half of 6
    - 6 collecting flowers…. So 6 go to the hive
    - You have to have the same number for each half

So Room 14’s answer is 6 bees went back to hive

  5. How we worked it out was take the 25 from the amount of people still in the class and multiplied 25 x 7 = 175 which was:
    7 x 20 = 140
    7 x 5 =35
    140 + 35 =175

We got the 7 from the 7/8.

  6. We worked it out by doing 25x7. We got 25 from the 25 students in the class which is the same as 1/8. Doing 25x7 was faster than doing repeat addition.

We got the 7 from the 7/8 in the text. Our answer was 165 but the real answer was 175 when we worked it out with the class.
