When Irish Eyes are Smiling : )

As Rugby World Cup Fever is about to hit us, Room 13 will be following and studying the Ireland Rugby Team. We will also be playing in the CPS Junior School Rippa Rugby Tournament as Ireland.

Our classroom is slowly but surely becoming more Ireland friendly with our Green, White and Orange bunting on the windows and our Irish flags!

If any of our Irish followers would be willing to impart some information about their culture, we would be more than delighted!

Go Ireland! Oh and yes of course GO ALL BLACKS : )

  1. If your students watch the Irish team play they will hear two anthems before the game. The Irish National Anthem, Amhran na bhFhiann, and a song called Ireland's CAll.
This is because the Irish rugby team is an all-island Ireland team, with players from South and North on the panel/team and it was decided a few years ago to have a uniting song/anthem to embrace the players from Northern Ireland.
It was written by the famous composer Phil COulter.

  2. Hi again Miss Breens Brilliant Bunch.
Ireland- My Grandfather came from Ireland so I was excited when I saw that Ireland is the country that you are focusing on.
As you are doing your study I would love to hear about some of the information that you have researched. I don't know a lot about Ireland so I am counting on you all.
