Letter Writing

We have been reading the Shared Book - "Pen Pals" this week. Our students have had to pretend to be one of the Pen Pals and these are their replies to Casey after reading his last letter.

Dear Casey,
Hi Casey, are you feeling well today? I’ve got a question to ask you about your school. What time does your school finish? Because my school finishes at 3’o clock. I go to Clendon Park School and there are about five hundred and forty kids that come to our school. Casey is there anything else that has happened to you and you got a huge growling for? Is there anything fun at your school that has happened before? Do you have any secrets that you haven’t told anybody before, even your family? Let’s carry on talking about our schools so is your teacher nice to you? Because our teacher is nice to us, the only times she gets angry is when someone in our class does something really wrong and she sends them to another teacher because she can’t put up with them. I’ve got to go.
Your Sincerely
Leilani
P.S nice chatting to you.

Dear Casey,
In my school  we  have  540  people  and  in  my  class  we  have  26. On  the  weekend  I  went  to  the pools  but  its  all  right  because  we  don t  have  snakes  or  crabs.  At  our  school  we  have  a  big  playground, it  might  be  half the  size  of  your  farm.  Or it might be the  size  of  your school.
What are your favourite hobbies?
Is there anything  bad  that  has  happened to you?
Yours Sincerely
Dylan

Dear Casey,

I’m feeling well and I was wondering what you are doing?

Thank you for being my pen pal because I really think I should come over to your place but my mum said no. I can’t come over anyway because I’m feeling really ill today and I keep on spewing.
Casey, on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday I go to school. I like school. I hope your school is fun like mine .Do you like to pray? I do so Jesus loves me and you. Have to go now. I can’t wait for your next letter.
All my love Mya

P.S. Your welcome. My brother didn’t care about me so I just took the stickers. I hope you like my B.F.F necklace. I hope you like the picture of me on the rope (with my cousin).

Dear Casey,

Hi, what a little class you have. My school is big and I’ve got 26 in my class and my school has 540 people. Is your school fun?

My big brother thinks he is cool but he is not because he can’t dance and can’t run and he looks like me. I enjoyed reading your letter. Do you have a dog? Do you like your brother?
Does your school have a huge playground?

Your Sincerely
Peni

RWC: Match Report

As you will know our class is supporting Ireland as our second team behind the All Blacks of course.

Ireland played their first game against the USA team yesterday and came out winning 22-10. It was a tough fight as USA had a surprisingly good defensive line.

"We didn't play well, we really had to fight for our win," Irish captain Brian O'Driscoll said in a pitch side interview.

"I suppose it's job done but there's a lot to improve on."

Here is a picture of Winger -Tommy Bowe getting one of his two tries during the game.

Ireland may have to pull up their socks a bit for the next match against the Aussies on Saturday, if they are not to disappoint us : )

This is our class, aren't we fabulous! haha

When Irish Eyes are Smiling : )

As Rugby World Cup Fever is about to hit us, Room 13 will be following and studying the Ireland Rugby Team. We will also be playing in the CPS Junior School Rippa Rugby Tournament as Ireland.

Our classroom is slowly but surely becoming more Ireland friendly with our Green, White and Orange bunting on the windows and our Irish flags!

If any of our Irish followers would be willing to impart some information about their culture, we would be more than delighted!

Go Ireland! Oh and yes of course GO ALL BLACKS : )

Plaque Attack!

As it is Oral Hygiene Week at CPS, we conducted an experiment called 'Plaque Attack' to mimic what plaque does to our teeth.

These were our ingredients and equipment. We needed warm water, yeast and sugar.

We had one cup marked 'Sugar' and one marked as 'No Sugar'

We added one teaspoon of sugar to our cup marked 'Sugar' along with yeast and warm water.

Our cup marked 'No Sugar' contained only yeast and warm water, so we could see the effect of sugar in our other cup.

As we waited and observed both cups we wrote down what we could see happening in each cup. After 10 minutes we were surprised to find that the cup with sugar had gone all frothy and brown compared to the cup with no sugar. This showed us how plaque bacteria is caused by sugar and a reaction occurs very fast.

Here are some photos of us writing down our observations:

Our Picture Frame Art

This term we have been looking at 3D Construction in Art. We have spent the past 5 weeks designing and making picture frames. These are some of our finished products! Aren't they lovely! Just in time for Fathers Day : )

Another win for the Year 7 & 8 Girls!

My Year 7 & 8 Basketball Girls participated in the Counties Interzone Tournament on Wednesday 31st August. Once again they came out victorious, winning all their games with the help of a fabulous player from Randwick Primary, Rachel. They worked so well as a team, I'm so proud of you guys!! They will now be competing in the Auckland finals on the 13th September in Massey! Very exciting, I can't wait to see how they go : )
